Fabio Meloni
Fabio Meloni was born on the eastern coast of Sardinia, where the wind and Mediterranean scrub taught him a language made of scents. A biologist by training, he graduated with honours in Biology from the University of Cagliari, specializing in botany. He deepened his research with a degree in Herbal Sciences and Technologies from the Faculty of Pharmacy, focusing on extractive chemistry, ethnobotany, and the characterization of natural extracts, the same university where he later returned as a lecturer.
His olfactory writing was refined amidst the lavender fields of Provence in the 2012 season, Parisian laboratories, and the Florence Fragrance School, in a journey that intertwines scientific rigor and compositional sensitivity. Since 2018, he has led research and development laboratories for the cosmetic and perfumery industry between Sardinia and Milan, working alongside some of the leading Italian and international companies in the sector.
His name gained international attention in 2018 when Learn Something Different (LSD), a fragrance inspired by Lewis Carroll's Alice Through the Looking-Glass, earned him second prize at the OSA! Outsider Scent Awards and a special recognition from the connoisseurs' jury. Since then, his work continues to be observed by industry critics: in 2025, he was among the thirteen finalists of the Mouillette d'Argent with Bananambar, an accord that transforms green banana into a resinous and enveloping Mediterranean cistus, thus creating a new way to construct the historical amber accord in perfumery.
In 2019, he founded the independent studio Preparazioni Olfattive, putting his vision at the service of brands seeking an authentic signature. In 2020, he created the entire Bramasole line, an imaginary journey of alchemical Renaissance through Europe. He is the Scientific Director of the Neuroscent Academy, a school for learning perfumery and olfactory enhancement based on the latest neuroscientific discoveries. Alongside his olfactory work, he also writes: Profumeria applicata, the first Italian treatise on perfume composition, translated into English and soon becoming a reference text for the entire sector.
Today, his research finds its home in the FABIOMELONI Maison, the mature form of his olfactory research.
